Special Education Podcasts

Let's face it, I am a mom of three young kids, trying to juggle it all.  It is rare that I ever get a minute to myself.  But honestly, podcasts have been one of my favorite ways to get in some me time.  Whether it's entertainment or professional development, I know that I need my self-care too.    Here are some of my favorite special education podcasts that I listen to!

The Autism Helper Podcast with Sasha Long

If you have not taken the time to listen to her podcast, RUN!  Sasha is so very knowledgeable and so easy to listen to.  She is very relatable.  She is a formal special education teacher and a BCBA with 3 youngs kids.  The podcast gives educators and related service providers different strategies to improve the lives of people with Autism. 

The Lucky Few Podcast

I love Heather.  I am a mom of a son with Down Syndrome, so she is very relatable to me.  She has adopted 3 children, 2 of whom have Down Syndrome as well.  In this podcast, 3 amazing, motivational, and inspiring women (one of them being Heather) sit down to chat about things that need to be talked about and shared in the Down Syndrome community.

with Dr. Christine Reeve

Dr. Chris Reeve has over 30 years of experience working with special education staff and brings her expertise and inspiration to the airwaves. Some major themes covered in her podcast are behavior management, organization, curriculum, evidence-based practice, data collection, time management, routines, parent communication, and educator self-care.   She is also a former teacher with a BCBA.  She is incredibly knowledgeable and easy to listen to. 

Angela Watson's Truth for Teachers Podcast

Although this is not a specific special education blog, I thought it was worth a mention.  Do you know Angela Watson from her Blog “40 Hourd Work Week Club? Each episode delves into essential topics such as navigating challenging administration and addressing concerns about leaving your job, issues that resonate with all educators. Unfortunately, these challenges seem to impact special education teachers more frequently and tangibly.  

That Special Educator from Braelan

Braelan is a Youtube sensation with amazing videos of special education.  Prior to starting her Youtube channel, Braelan was a special education teacher in way over her head. Realizing that her degrees in special education hadn’t prepared her for the practicals of her new job, she decided to create a channel to document all that she had learned. With the hope of inspiring other educators to handle behavior, paperwork, and caseloads in order to support as many children as possible.  Now she has an amazing podcast full of all things special education. 

Be the Exception from Dawn Ellis

Dawn Ellis is a national board-certified special education teacher with more than 14 years of experience.  She now creates resources for TpT and is a podcaster.  She runs the store, Cultivating Exceptional Minds and her podcast is very inspiring.  She talks about so many different tips and tricks for working in the special education field.  

Teach Task Box Inspire from Lisa Hollady

Well, I cannot write a blog post about special education podcasts without mentioning my own, can I?   I launched my very first podcast in November, called Teach Task Box Inspire.  I have been wanting to share so many tips and tricks around special education, especially when we are talking about task boxes, that I had to share with you!   My episodes are short and sweet usually between 10-15 minutes long, perfect for that commute to work every Monday morning.   Take a listen: https://pod.link/1715949460
